Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili conducted a meeting with the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The parties discussed main aspects of the economic relations between Georgia and Turkey. The conversation also touched upon the importance of the high-level Strategic Cooperation Council and the need for timely implementation of the agreements concluded within the frames of visit. Recep Tayyip Erdogan thanked Prime Minister of Georgia for the solid support demonstrated to Turkey. Head of the Government of Georgia reasserted his strong support to the people of Turkey and expressed his belief that stable and democratic Turkey is an important guarantee of regional safety.

It was noted that today's visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia will reinforce cooperative relations between the countries.

Main aspects of strategic partnership between the states and prospects of deepening the cooperation were the main topics discussed during the meeting of the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili and his Turkish counterpart Binali Yildirim.

The meeting started with discussing the recent events taking developments in Turkey. Giorgi Kvirikashvili reasserted Georgian Government's support to the democratically elected Government of Turkey and the Turkish people. According to him, preserving of stability in Turkey as well as reinforcement of existing strategic partnership between the countries is important to Georgia.

Prime Minister of Turkey thanked Government of Georgia for demonstrating support to the stability in Turkey and assessed the visit of the Georgian Prime Minister as a step towards further development of strategic partnership between the countries.

Parties paid particular attention to the cooperation in the areas of trade and economy, transportation and energy. Need for further intensification of the bilateral trade and prospects of increasing Georgian export to the Turkish market were discussed. The conversation also touched upon the joint energy and transportation projects. At the end of the meeting the parties expressed readiness to support extending of the strategic partnership between the countries.

Within the frames of the official visit to Turkey, Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili conducted a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Turkey Ismail Kahraman. The parties to the meeting discussed main aspects of cooperation between Turkey and Georgia. They outlined successful partnership across various fields, including politics, trade and economy, transportation, energy, defense and security, cultural and humanitarian areas.

Particular attention was paid to the trade and economic relations and it was indicated that Turkey is one of Georgia's important trade partners. Parties discussed the prospects of deepening the cooperation between relevant groups representing Parliament of Georgia and the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

After the meeting Speaker of the Parliament of Turkey demonstrated to Giorgi Kvirikashvili the part of Parliament that was damaged during the attempted coup.

Strategic partnership between Georgia and Turkey is extending - the first session of the high-level Strategic Partnership Council was held in Ankara with the participation of the Prime Ministers of respective countries.

Prime Minister of Georgia hoped that Strategic Partnership Council will foster deepening of the cooperation between the countries and active and fruitful partnership will thus be institutionalized. In his speech Giorgi Kvirikashvili emphasized that close political and economic relations between Georgia and Turkey have transformed into strategic partnership. According to him, alongside with the close political partnership, active trade and economic relations is one of the key components of Georgian-Turkish relations. Giorgi Kvirikashvili considers that ensuring increased accessibility to the markets is essential to activate trade and economic relations; whereas balancing free trade is crucial to increase Georgian export to Turkish market.

According to the Prime Minister, one of the important dimensions of cooperation is supporting activities of business circles. In this view, Georgia offers numbers of opportunities to the business circles, particularly due to the Association Agreement and the DCFTA.

Cooperation in the energy sector was also discussed during the session. Importance of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipeline-related projects was emphasized. It was noted that realization of South Energy Corridor projects will foster strengthening of energy safety of the countries and provision of additional volumes of energy from Caspian Sea to the European market.

The members of the Governments of the both countries attended the first session of the high-level Strategic Partnership Council.

Governments of Georgia and Turkey agreed upon establishing high level Strategic Partnership Council - Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim signed respective document. The signing ceremony as held within the frames of official visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia to Turkey.

The Governments of Georgia and Turkey enhance cooperation through mutual support and protection of the investments.
The new agreement "between Georgia and the Republic of Turkey on Mutual Support and Protection of Investments" signed by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Dimitri Kumsishvili, will foster investors from the both countries to undertake investments. It will further ensure stimulation of entrepreneurial initiatives, economic development of the parties to the Agreement and effective utilization of economic resources.

To develop shipments and transportation using the railway vehicle, the draft of the "Framework Agreement on Railway Shipping and Transportation between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of Georgi" was signed.

The Governments of the two countries agreed upon the cooperation in the areas of labor, social protection and employment. The Ministry of Healthcare David Sergeenko signed the agreement. The Memorandum of Understanding in the area of Corrections between the Ministry of Justice of Turkey and Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance of Georgia was signed today. The document was signed by Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Kakha Kakhishvili.
