On November 11, a phone conversation was held between Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
From the onset, the head of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany thanked the Prime Minister of Georgia on behalf of the German people for the courage of the Georgian soldiers repelling the assault on the German Consulate in Afghanistan. Frank-Walter Steinmeier expressed gratitude to every Georgian soldier who repelled the assault and protected the safety of the entire staff of the consulate. For his part, the Prime Minister of Georgia pointed out that such events further deepen the close ties between the two countries.
During the conversation, the head of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany congratulated the Prime Minister of Georgia and his political team on their overwhelming victory in the recent parliamentary elections. He wished success to the Prime Minister and committed on behalf of the German Government to providing full political support to Georgia.
During the conversation, the importance of the timely establishment of visa-free travel to the EU for Georgian citizens was also emphasized. The head Federal Foreign Office of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier promised to spare no effort to make sure this issue is resolved in a timely manner.
During the phone conversation, the parties also discussed the situation in the region and prospects of further cooperation between Georgia and Germany.
