President of the National Council of Swiss Parliament to Visit Georgia Print Version

On September 5-6, 2016, President of the National Council of Swiss parliament Christa Markwalder will pay an official visit to Georgia, as was pointed out at a meeting between the Georgian prime Minister and the President of the National Council of Swiss parliament.

Christa Markwalder hosted Giorgi Kvirikashvili and the Georgian delegation at a working dinner.
The meeting emphasized the importance of signing the FTA between Georgia and the EFTA and, in this context, the export of Georgian products, including wine. The Prime Minister informed the President of the National Council about the establishment of the Office of Trade Attaché, which involves assigning a trade representative at Georgian diplomatic missions with a view to promoting export and trade.

The parties also discussed the current state of affairs in the region, Georgia-EU and Georgia-Russian relation, as well as the situation in Georgia's occupied territories. The Prime Minister thanked Switzerland for supporting Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty and serving as a mediator between Georgia and Russia. Giorgi Kvirikashvili pointed out that the Georgian Government values the support of SDC in the implementation of important projects.
