PM Participates in 70th UN General Assembly Print Version

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili attended, and delivered remarks at, the 70th UN General Assembly session in New York City. He attended several high-level events and summits, and conducted a number of meetings with world leaders and ranking business and government representatives to discuss key issues of importance to Georgia.

In addition to his remarks during the UN General Assembly debate, Prime Minister Garisbasvhili spoke at the Leaders' Summit on Countering ISIL and Violent Extremism, led by US President Barack Obama. He also delivered remarks at the UN Sustainable Development Summit during the interactive dialogue on "Protecting our Planet and Combating Climate Change", and participated in the Leaders' Meeting on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment.

Prime Minister Garibashvili also discussed Georgia's economic progress and increasingly favorable business environment at an economic forum on "Georgia-Making Business Easy."

The Prime Minister's bilateral meetings included one-on-one discussions with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and counterparts from several other countries.

Prime Minister Garibashvili also attended a reception hosted by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the official reception hosted by US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, as well as the Clinton Global Citizen Award ceremony.

The Prime Minister was in New York City from September 25th through October 2nd, 2015.
