Government Meeting of October 22, 2015 Print Version

2015-10-22

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili chaired a recent government session, during which the Cabinet discussed 29 items.

The Cabinet approved changes to The Law on Free Tourist Zone Development. According to the bill, benefits, including the exemption from income tax and the VAT that were established for state-owned facilities, will also apply to property owned by the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

It will also be possible for an interested party to approach the commission and ask for a transfer of property within the free tourist zone or acquire property owned by the state through a direct sale. The sale will increase the capacity of investment possibilities and have a positive impact on the investment environment. The government expects this process will encourage investors, create more effective and flexible mechanisms for them and eliminate the legal gaps that create additional obstacles for investors interested in the tourism sector.

The Cabinet also increased the period of Universal Healthcare and Hepatitis C measures' control and revision from 3 to 5 years and decided that the clinics will be inspected selectively.
