"We must define priorities based on the country's interests and only then make a decision," the Georgian Prime Minister pointed out in relation to the Sakdrisi issue. In this regard, Irakli Garibashvili reaffirmed the Government's take on this issue at today's government meeting. According to him, a modern archaeological museum will be built in Bolnisi to house artifacts discovered in Sakdrisi, while the RMG Company continues its operation.
"On one hand, we had an abandoned archaeological site neglected for years, so we allocated space to transport artifacts discovered there. We were promised by RMG Company that a modern archaeological museum will be built in Bolnisi to preserve all artifacts discovered in Sakdrisi. This museum will serve as a cultural and tourism destination. It is also planned to renovate the Old German Quarters. On the other hand, we had to decide the fate of 3,000 families and the district as a whole, as this company provides for the Bolnisi District in full. Allow me to confirm on behalf of the Government that we must extend the company's permit and allow RMG to continue its operations, lest 3,000 families be laid off while the Bolnisi District face difficulties. This is our joint position. We discussed this issue with our economic team," the Prime Minister stated.
According to Irakli Garibashvili, the Government has found the optimal solution, precedents of which are seen in other countries as well.
