From February 8, new buses will serve Kutaisi

From February 8, new buses will serve Kutaisi. The city now has 60 new buses.
These EURO 5 buses were purchased with financial support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
The new buses meet all technical requirements of modern standards, including EU-standard air-conditioning systems.
COVID-19 prevention recommendations will be observed on the buses, which will be disinfected at the end of each workday.
Notably, the new buses are eco-friendly.
All buses are fully adapted for persons with disabilities.
Bus fleets are actively replenished in the regions.
With support from EBRD in 2020, 183 buses were procured for 7 cities.

  • Kutaisi (60)
  • Rustavi (40)
  • Gori (30)
  • Zugdidi (25)
  • Telavi (10)
  • Poti (10)
  • Batumi (8 e-buses)

Of which 126 buses have already been transferred to municipalities.
The project allows citizens to enjoy modern, safe, and comfortable municipal transport.
Notably, based on the epidemiological situation, the gradual easing of strict localized restrictions is underway in the country. On February 8, municipal transport will resume in Tbilisi, Rustavi, and Kutaisi as well (except on weekends).
Positive test result statistics for the past 7 days have dropped by 4% to allow for easing restrictions earlier than planned.
On February 8, in Tbilisi, Rustavi, and Kutaisi-that is, throughout Georgia:

  • Municipal transport will resume (buses, routed taxis, regular taxis, and Tbilisi's subway), except on weekends.
  • Outdoor and indoor marketplaces will reopen, except on weekends.

On February 15, in Tbilisi, Rustavi, and Kutaisi-that is, throughout Georgia:

  • In-person school studies will resume (and parents will still be able to choose remote learning).
  • Food outlets will be able to serve customers in outdoor areas, except on weekends.
