Information on Participants of the Competition for Vacant Membership Positions in the Georgian National Communications Commission Print Version

Applications to participate the open competition announced through the December 8, 2020 Decree#2367 to fill vacant membership positions in the Georgian National Communications Commission were submitted to the Administration of the Georgian Government, within set deadlines, by the following applicants: Nino Kubinidze, Akaki Gigineishvili, Ivane Makharadze, Ekaterine Imedadze, Tamar Chelidze, Vakhtang Shevardnadze, Irine Verdzeuli, Konstantine Katamadze, and Mirian Ghoghoberidze; also, the following have applied to the competition announced through the December 8, 2020 Decree #2368: Nino Kubinidze, Akaki Gigineishvili, Irakli Butbaia, Natia Kukuladze, Olya Vott, Tamar Chelidze, Vakhtang Shevardnadze, Irine Verdzeuli, Konstantine Katamadze, and Mirian Ghoghoberidze.

Pursuant to applicable legislation, a list of candidates and their competition documentation are posted on the Georgian Government's official website.

The tenures of Georgian National Communications Commission Members Eliso Asanidze and Merab Katamadze expire on March 18, 2021. Pursuant to article 9 of the Law of Georgia on Broadcasting, the Government of Georgia, 100 days prior to tenure expiration, shall issue a decree on holding an open competition. Based on the January 8, 2020 Decrees ##2367 and 2368 of the Government of Georgia, an open competition was announced to fill two vacant membership positions in the Georgian National Communications Commission.

In line with the requirements of Georgian legislation, a candidate for membership of the Georgian National Communications Commission must enjoy public recognition and trust and be a holder of a master's degree or its equivalent academic degree in economics, public administration, business administration, law, electronic communications, or journalism, also having at least 10 years of experience, with 3 years of managerial experience. The President of Georgia will refer candidates for election to the Parliament of Georgia. From the candidates referred by the President of Georgia, the Parliament of Georgia, in line with applicable procedural rules, will elect a new member of the Georgian National Communications Commission.
