Another session of the Coordination Council was held under the leadership of the head of government. Prime Minister's Advisor and Spokesman Irakli Chikovani discussed new decisions and the current situation in terms of the spread of the virus during the briefing.

"We have 100 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country. Also, 21 of them have already recovered, while 4,995 persons are in isolation," the prime minister's advisor stated.

Irakli Chikovani also discussed the special checkpoints on the borders of municipalities. According to him, it was decided at today's [session of the] Coordination Council that similar points will be set up in two more municipalities - in Telavi and Akhaltsikhe.

"Special checkpoints have already been set up on the borders of seven municipalities throughout Georgia. The special checkpoints were organized by the forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as by the forces of the Ministry of Defense. The restrictions in place under the state of emergency are being strictly controlled at these checkpoints and, of course, thermal screening of our citizens is taking place as well," the prime minister's advisor stated.

The press speaker called on the population to observe the restrictions envisaged by the curfew and stressed that law enforcement officers will strictly control the implementation of this restriction.

"As the prime minister informed the public yesterday, a decision effectively imposing a curfew has been reached and it will come into force today. All forms of transportation, including movement on foot or otherwise, will be prohibited between the hours of 21:00 and 06:00. This is an essential measure that was required in order for us to slow the spread of the coronavirus to the greatest possible extent," Irakli Chikovani stated.

The prime minister's advisor apologized to the citizens for delays on the government's unified hotline and noted that the hotline's capabilities will be further increased and that citizens will be able to receive comprehensive information concerning the restrictions.

"As you know, the Georgian Government's unified hotline, which can be reached by dialing 144, has begun to operate. The hotline received a huge number of calls after the announcement, as a result of which our citizens had to wait or call several times, and we apologize for this inconvenience. The capabilities of this line will be further increased and public awareness will be ensured. Our fellow citizens will be able to receive comprehensive information concerning the restrictions using this line, so that they can be fully informed on issues pertaining to the restrictions that are in place," the prime minister's advisor stated.

Irakli Chikovani also noted that Ordinance #204 of the Government of Georgia (21 March 2020) has been published and can be viewed by anyone on the webpage of the Legislative Herald, or the webpage of the Government of Georgia.

According to him, all the restrictions in place under the state of emergency are explained there.

"All the restrictions that are in place under the state of emergency, in which we find ourselves today, are explained here. Some details are needed from specific departments and these departments will provide these details. Correspondingly, each department and the leadership of each department will provide the public with relevant information," Irakli Chikovani stated.
