"Inter-Agency Coordination Council of the Government of Georgia continues to meet in a slightly different manner - in individual groups - with an aim of efficient decision-making" stated Irakli Chikovani, Adviser and Press Speaker of the Prime Minister of Georgia today.

According to him, meeting with a Healthcare Team has already been held and it is scheduled to have meetings with Economic, Law and Order Teams later on today.

"Prime Minister of Georgia was briefed about the current situation in relation with a novel Coronavisur (COVID-19) in the country. Information was also provided on the additional capacity mobilized within the healthcare system to get ready for potential complications. As of today, as you are well aware, confirmed number of infected individuals has reached 38. Majority of these cases are in a satisfactory condition and undergoing respective medical treatment in line with the applicable protocols. Currently 1261 individuals remain in the quarantine, while 216 are being monitored at hospitals. All the pre-defined measures are taken to treat them.

Head of Government of Georgia was also briefed by the Minister of Health on the current situation in view of express tests and increased lab test potential in the country" noted the Press Speaker of the Prime Minister of Georgia.

According to him and as a result of the security concerns, Government Administration of Georgia is moving towards a different format of live broadcasting of press briefings.

He also noted that a new communication platform will be designed for accepting questions of journalists to ensure efficient and in uninterrupted responses.

"With an aim of your protection, Government Administration of Georgia is moving towards a different format of live broadcasting of its briefings. I wish to use this opportunity and thank the Public Broadcaster for allowing a common signal to be transmitted to each media outlet. You will be able to accept and broadcast the information released by us. Also, you will be able to submit your questions to the Government Administration well in advance and we will be providing comprehensive answers to them. Of course, we understand that this approach requires efficiency and with that purpose we will be designing a communication platform. We stand ready to answer any of your questions" concluded the Press Speaker of the Prime Minister of Georgia.
