Toy safety and quality control comes into effect Print Version

► Before market placement, toys will be checked for compliance with product safety requirements, meaning both chemical composition and physical characteristics

► Toy market surveillance will employ document, visual, and lab examinations alike

► The technical regulations developed in line with the EU Toy Safety Directive have been approved at the Georgian Government's meeting

► Toy safety and quality supervision throughout Georgia will be carried out by the Market Surveillance Agency at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. Recommendations will become mandatory in 2021.

► Failure to comply with safety requirements will result in enforcement measures, with their severity depending on the magnitude of potential harm arising from failure to comply, and encompassing various sanctions like warning, sales ban, product withdrawal, recall, and-should hazardous chemical additives be discovered in toys-destruction.
