According to Irakli Chikovani, the authorities have maintained intensive communication with Vazha Gaprindashvili's family, keeping them updated on the state's measures toward Vazha Gaprindashvili's release.
"Today Vazha Gaprindashvili is free, a remarkable event and, I am convinced, great news for every Georgian. Of course, since day one of Vazha Gaprindashvili's unlawful detention, we the state institutions have been engaged in every direction, and so have international institutions. And it is thanks to their efforts and the coordinated work of state structures that we have this result. Importantly, we have kept intensive communication with his family to keep them updated on our actions. This result is a pleasant outcome for all, and it is exciting that Vazha Gaprindashvili will be home for New Year's Eve. I reiterate that, as we conducted such well mobilized and coordinated work to free Doctor Vazha, certain political forces and forces tried to fuel tensions, claiming that the state was standing idle. That is a wrong approach and positioning, and I repeat that we have once again mobilized both local resources and those of our international partners," Irakli Chikovani said.
