Zurab Abashidze: Communication with Grigory Karasin emphasized both parties’ willingness to maintain the past few years’ positives to the extent possible Print Version

Both we and the Russian side are willing to maintain to the extent possible the positive results achieved in the past few years in the areas of trade and economic relations, transport ties, and certain humanitarian relations, Zurab Abashidze, the Georgian Prime Minister's Special Representative for Relations with Russia, told the press today.


The Prime Minister's Special Representative and Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin had a phone conversation today to discuss the current state of affairs.
According to Zurab Abashidze, what matters now is to ensure against emotions escalating further and undermining the economic interests of many Georgian citizens.
The Prime Minister's Special Representative, in his conversation with Grigory Karasin, also criticized the recent closure of the Enguri crossing point as totally unacceptable.


"On my initiative, we discussed the closure of the Enguri crossing point. I emphasized that it is totally unacceptable, and I communicated the essence of the relevant statements made today," Zurab Abashidze said.
