Meeting with Italian Foreign Minister Print Version

The importance of the diplomatic relations between Georgia and Italy, which celebrate their 25th anniversary, and prospects of further cooperation were discussed at today's meeting in Rome between Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Angelino Alfano.

The parties discussed some of the key issues pertaining to the partnership between the two nations and emphasized the close friendly bonds between Georgia and Italy.
Special emphasis was placed in trade and economic potential, with the parties looking forward to the Business Forum, organized as part of the Georgian Prime Minister's visit, to double the interest of Italian businesses in Georgia's investment opportunities.
The Prime Minister of Georgia and the Italian Foreign Minister also discussed Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration and its progress on this path. According to the parties, EU visa waiver for Georgian citizens will further deepen cultural ties and tourism and business relations.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili thanked Angelino Alfano for Italy's support of Georgia's European integration and territorial integrity, and for its unwavering position on the non-recognition policy.
