Supporting Public Service Reform in Georgia

2017-02-18

To support governance reform, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland allocated 4.5 m pounds sterling to the Government of Georgia. The project for supporting public governance reform was signed Maya Tskitishvili (Head of the Administration of the Georgian Government) and Niels Scott (UN Resident Coordinator/UNDP Resident Representative in Georgia).

Financed by Great Britain, this initiative of 4.5 m pounds sterling seeks to enhance the capacities of the Government of Georgia in order to implement the National Development Agenda.

The project will be implemented in stages, spanning through 2020 and prioritizing the following directions:

• Political planning system development and cooperation
• Public service and human resources management
• Service delivery.

The initiative's implementation involves UNDP and a number of public institutions, such as the Administration of the Georgian Government, the Civil Service Bureau, the Data Exchange Agency, and the Public Service Development Agency.

Georgia's public governance reform, as one of the most important components of the Government's four-point reform agenda, was launched in 2015, seeking to ensure deeper political and economic relations between Georgia and the EU.
