Interagency Commission on Gender Equality, Violence against Women and Domestic Violence Meets at the Government Administration Print Version

A regular meeting of the Interagency Commission on Gender Equality, Violence against Women and Domestic Violence was held at the Administration of the Government of Georgia today.

Meeting held in an expanded format with the participation of non-governmental and international organizations, was led by Niko Tatulashvili, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Human Rights and Chairman of the Interagency Commission.

The members of the commission, with the engagement of non-governmental and international organizations, discussed such important issues as: the current status of the concepts of gender equality and economic empowerment of women, the fight against violence against women and domestic violence, state programs for victims of state care and trafficking, progress achieved in the introduction of mechanism for the prevention of sexual harassment and development of gender statistics.

Representatives of local and international organizations presented their observation reports at the meeting of the Commission.

The Gender Equality Commission at the Human Rights Council of the Prime Minister of Georgia also reviewed priorities for the future, which will be actively pursued in coordination with the stakeholders.
