The council's meeting today discussed the issue of expanding vaccination, Head of the Task Force under the Interagency Coordination Council Giorgi Ghibradze stated at today's briefing, following the Interagency Coordination Council's meeting, at the Administration of the Government.

In reporting on the decisions made at today's meeting of the Interagency Coordination Council, he pointed out that Cabinet and Parliament members will join the process of vaccination this week.

"On the council's decision, other priority groups will also be joined by employees of the tourism and hospitality sectors, also public transport drivers and ticket collectors," Giorgi Ghibradze said.

Ghibradze added that work is in full swing on so-called green passes for those fully vaccinated, and that this issue will be referred for approval to the Interagency Coordination Council in the nearest future.

"At the same time, the council is considering various types of exemptions for those fully vaccinated. As you know, infection cases are growing both globally and in Georgia, though the system is ready for the worst-case scenario, and the Government is in full control of the process.

The Interagency Coordination Council once again urges citizens to comply with applicable regulations and contribute to preventing the spread of the virus, namely by properly using facemasks and maintaining social distancing," Giorgi Ghibradze said.

The Head of the Task Force under the Interagency Coordination Council, in relation to holidays, also pointed out that municipal transport will be suspended throughout Georgia through May 12, though this restriction does not apply to intercity transport. Said measure, along with announcing holidays, is designed to maximally limit mobility, Ghibradze added.
