As of today, 2 927 new cases of COVID infection were identified within the last 24 hours. It was announced by Alexandre Khojevanishvili, Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council at a press-briefing held at the Government Administration today.
He shared the most recent statistical data on COVID-19 and measures taken by the Government of Georgia within the last 24 hours.
"As of today, 2 927 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours. You may well be aware that the scale of testing is increasing, including that of antigens. Hence, confirmed cases were identified both through polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and antigen tests. Since detecting the first case of COVID-19, the total number of infected individuals has reached 60 680.
We maintain the rising trend of recoveries and namely 2 470 individuals recovered within the last 24 hours, thus making the total number reach 45 042 recovered persons.
Unfortunately, 24 people died of COVID in the last 24 hours, out of which 13 were in Tbilisi, 5 - in Adjara, 4 - in Imereti, 1 - in Shida Kartli, and 1 - in Kakheti. Since February 26, 2020 the total mortality rate of COVID-19 in Georgia has reached 499 cases.
Out of 2 927 cases identified today, 1 033 are based in Tbilisi, 411 - in Adjara, 782 - in Imereti, 130 - in Kvemo Kartli, 74 - in Shida Kartli, 53 - in Guria, 150 - in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 133 - in Kakheti, 79 - in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 59 - in Samtskhe-Javakheti, and 23 - in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.
Currently the total number of active infection cases are 15 113. Hospital care is provided in the case of 4 780 individuals, out of which 2 356 are stationed in Tbilisi and 759 - in Adjara. Acute health conditions are observed in the case of 645 patients, out of which 320 are based in Tbilisi and 111 - in Adjara. Out of them lung ventilators are used in the case of 393 patients, out of which 236 are stationed in Tbilisi and 111 - in Adjara. COVID Hotels are used as a venue of secluded medical treatment in the case of 2 879 individuals, out of which 1 480 are based in Adjara and 950 - in Tbilisi. Medical supervision is administered at home in the case of 7 454 infected individuals.
2 982 individuals are in quarantine, out of which 645 are based in Tbilisi and 1 316 - in Adjara.
In total 13 448 individuals have been transported from the border in the period of October 6-November 8, 2020.
At present, 37 675 individuals are in self-isolation, out of which 5 637 are based in Tbilisi, 16 360 - in Adjara and 4 403 - in Imereti" notes Alexandre Khojevanishvili.
