INTER-AGENCY COMMISSION ON GENDER EQUALITY, VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND FAMILY ABUSE HOLDS ITS SECOND MEETING AT THE GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION Print Version

Second Meeting of the Inter-Agency Commission on Gender Equality, Violence against Women and Family Abuse has been held at the Government Administration.

Meeting was attended by Commission Members, officials from the Office of Public Defender (Ombudsman) and partner international organizations. Meeting was launched with welcoming remarks of Gocha Lortkipanidze, Deputy Minister of Justice of Georgia and Natalia Jaliashvili, Head of Human Rights Secretariat.

Meeting participants were presented with an Annual Report on Implementation of Government Action Plans on Gender Equality, Violence against Women and Family Abuse.

MP Guguli Maghradze of the Gender Equality Council at the Parliament of Georgia delivered a speech and shared information with meeting participants on the measures implemented and intended by the Gender Equality Council of the Parliament of Georgia. MP Guguli Maghradze focused on the new concept of the State on gender equality, significance of economic empowerment of women, recommendations on education and infrastructure towards economic facilitation of women.

Inter-Agency Commission has also submitted priority directions for 3 months and approved a draft plan. Inter alia, planned activities include the launch of work on the Istanbul Convention Implementation Report, communication campaign oriented at the behavioral change, economic empowerment of women and establishment of a Consultation Group for the engagement of a civil society in the work of the Inter-Agency Commission.
