One Georgian Government’s Initiative, Public Servants Complete Learning Course Supported by UNDP and British Government Print Version

On the initiative of the Georgian Government, and with support of the UN Development Program and the Government of Great Britain, more than 170 public servants have completed Public Policy Analysis learning course.

The training's participants received certificates from Head of the Administration of the Government of Georgia Kakha Kakhishvili, UNDP Resident Representative in Georgia Louisa Vinton, the British Embassy's Good Governance Fund Projects Manager Tamar Trapaidze, and Partner of GEC Consulting Giorgi Simongulashvili.

The learning course, supported by the Government of Georgia, seeks to promote the country's ongoing public governance reform, and meets one of the six directions under the Public Governance Reform Roadmap, namely Policymaking and Coordination.

The training program, developed by the consortium based on needs assessment, was designed to enhance the strategic planning and policymaking capabilities of Georgian Ministries.

"Evidence-based decision-making is crucially important to our country, so that we may keep our finger on the pulse of development rates, the results of the Government's performance, and challenges," Kakha Kakhishvili said.
"I congratulate the graduates on the completion of training. New skills acquired by public servants will contribute to raising public trust in them, and will ensure that the Government's policy, and finances allocated to this end, are directed toward reaching set goals," UNDP Resident Representative in Georgia Louisa Vinton emphasized.

Partner of GEC Consulting Giorgi Simongulashvili expressed hope that said courses will be institutionalized to enable every public servant involved in policy planning may attend such qualification enhancement courses.

UNDP and the British Government are supporting the Government of Georgia in its far-reaching initiative seeking to foster the country's ongoing public administration reform.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the public service sector, international and donor organizations, civil society, and academic institutions, and the field's experts.
