Prime Minister’s visit to Turkey Print Version

Prime-Minister Nika Gilauri and the Prime-Minister of Turkey Mr. Recep Tayyip ErdoganOn October 5-7, 2009 Nika Gilauri was on his visit in Republic of Turkey. The Prime Minister took part in Annual Meeting of International Monetary Fund and World Bank (IMF/WB) in Istanbul. Nika Gilauri met the President of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Mr. Thomas Mirow.

According to the Georgian Prime Minister, a new phase of relations has started. "Mainly, it encompasses infrastructural procedures. Thanks to EBRD the banking sector is healthy today. Now we have discussions on infrastructural matters."

The Georgian Prime Minister also met the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The Prime Ministers talked about political and economic cooperation between Turkey and Georgia.

After the meeting Nika Gilauri stated that Turkey supports territorial integrity of Georgia.

"Support of the Turkish party regarding territorial integrity of Georgia and NATO membership is standing. We talked about construction of Kars main line, which is slowed-down a little. We also considered construction of 500-KV electric transmission line which would be finished in two years. We talked about infrastructural projects.

"We talked about Turkish investments already implemented in Georgia, as well as future investments", said the Georgian Prime Minister.

Turkish-Georgian Business Forum was opened in Istanbul with participation of NIka Gilauri who met Turkish business representatives.
