Eighth Day of Visit to America

On December 12 the Prime Minister of Georgia Zurab Noghaideli met the Executive Director of Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) John Danilovich. During the meeting was underscored the significance of support of this foundation in line of development of infrastructure in Georgia that at the present stage implies rehabilitation of Samthkhe-Javakheti roads, rehabilitation of North-South pipelines and rehabilitation of regional infrastructure. The parties also discussed the possibility of allocation of the second compact (funding) for Georgia by the foundation.

Zurab Noghaideli held a very important meeting with the deputy secretary of the Department for Commerce David Sampson. They discussed the current economic reforms in Georgia and intensification of trade relations between these two countries, possibility of execution of free trade agreement between the USA and Georgia. At the end of the meeting Mr. Sampson noted that Georgia may enjoy the full support of the Department.

In the second half of the day the Prime Minister of Georgia met the Vice-president of the USA Richard Chaney. Zurab Noghaideli underscored the role of Georgia and South Caucasus in whole in the line of world energy security. The parties discussed the importance of settlement of conflicts in Georgia and participation of the USA in these processes.

On December 13 the Prime Minister of Georgia will hold meetings at the World Bank.
